i just bought this ls fairing off of ebay was it worth the $30?

It's not much worse than the $143 one on ebay, they both need work before repainting.

A Winter project when snow covers your roads.

Take the time to fix it properly and it'll be fine. Remember, the prep work takes the longest. Painting then becomes a quick -and happy- chore.

have you sourced a windscreen?

No I don't.

Is there a place that I can get the other mounting parts for it and the cowling for it? Or is maxbmw.com the best?

I'd suggest surfing other used BMW parts sources while you're working on the main fairing body. Some of the hardware can be sourced locally. Check the microfiche for LS-specific mounting hardware bits.
