As per todays paper...
A tow-truck driver who ran into the back of group of motorcycles last month, killing four riders, was on methamphetamine at the time of the collision, Phoenix police say.
Eight motorcycles were hit; four people were killed and five were injured.
Police arrested Michael Jakscht, 46, today after he allegedly drove away from his Scottsdale house while impaired.
Jakscht already had been under surveillance since the March 25 collision, which occurred on the Carefree Highway near 27th Avenue.
An expedited drug test revealed the meth in Jakscht's system, cops said.
Police plan to book him into county jail tonight and seek charges of four counts of manslaughter, five counts of aggravated assault, and seven counts of endangerment.
Jakscht's Facebook page describes him as single and self-employed.
Police expect more charges to be filed as the investigation continues.

Thanks fastcataz! Shoulda known. Sounds like the police had an idea about that.
-
I'm glad to hear he may actually have some consequences to his actions. Hope they throw the book and more at this bum!
-
Jakscht is really his name??? That would be funny if what he did wasn't to tragic.

Here's an updated article, didn't happen to see it yesterday .

This is an appropriate situation, where a person's drivers license, is revoked for life, if not longer !!!!
-
Ugh... so tragic.

"The Carefree Highway wreck came two weeks after Jakscht was cited by Scottsdale police for failing to control his speed to avoid a collision at Shea Boulevard and Hayden Road. The police accident report detailed how Jakscht, driving a pickup truck in his name, struck a stopped vehicle."
Gee, do we see a pattern, here?

Here's the latest update .
Ah, Maricopa County! I mus confess, as a lawyer, that my eighth-amendment nerves tend to cause a twitch or two at the mention of that jurisdiction. However, the alleged facts of this case make me think that Maricopa is the appropriate place for this malefactor!

An article came up today on the final outcome of the trial .

Can't wait for September 22nd. Keep us updated Bob.

What happens on Sep 22? I didn't see anything in the article about that. Hopefully that's the sentencing date. With any luck at all he'll spend a significant amount of time at the crossbar hotel, maybe even wearing pink dungarees.

What happens on Sep 22?
If you watch the video, they say that sentencing is on the 21st. I'm surprised they didn't put that in the written article - everything else was pretty much verbatim from the video.
Something weird about the (studio) female newscaster's hair, too - can't quite put my finger on it, though.

Here's a somewhat related article to the collision that occured and the admission of one of the riders that wasn't wearing a helmet .
