We bought an '81 R65 last week for the Mrs. This site seems like a great resource, so I signed up and will spend some time looking around.

The bike spent most of it's time in San Francisco, being parked outside with a cover. It shows. However, it runs great and rides well. The blemishes and things requiring attention are more character than problems.

Welcome. I also recently joined. Got my '84 R65 about a month ago here in San Francisco.

Did you find your on Craigslist? If so, I'm surprised I didn't see it.

Perhaps a R65 meetup will be in order before long.

I wonder why 81 was the only year to come stock with dual discs?

My first one was a black 81 with white and red pinstripes, LS wheels, stainless mufflers and taller final drive. Never shoulda sold that one!

I like yours - it's going to be a sweetheart!

Checking into the R65 Hotel California. Sonoma! Wine and a cool race track.
