Title: LOVE the new logo!
Post by: SCJJR65 on April 06, 2012, 09:34:14 AM
Don't know how many of you are members of the BMWMOA, but as part of their 40th anniversary, they have come up with a new "logo" for the organization, which was officially unveiled in the latest edition of the BMW Owners' News.  Since so many members simply refer to it as the "MOA", the new logo still incorporates the globe, but now uses the three letters "MOA" to refer to the club.  I liked the old logo OK, but have to say the new look is a breath of fresh air!  What say you folks?

The new signet does not show any relationship to a motorcycle club.  With the planet earth and black backround, it looks like a futuristic symbol from a science fiction movie.

Saw someone's post that it looked like the NASA logo.  I agree.  Can't say I care for it at all and to my knowledge there was no membership input.

This is what the official logo looks like that meets the requirements of BMW:

I'm sure that it's being driven by lawyers of the litigious ilk.  BMW needing to protect their logo from their clients and all that.  The local MOA chapter I belong to is going through the same thing.  There's a deadline to be met and after that no one is supposed to display the "official" logo otherwise it's copyright infringement.  Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.

Really, it doesn't much matter to me anyhow, I'm not going to ever buy a new BMW motorcycle and certainly wouldn't buy one made post CANBUS.  Too many electrical gremlins it seems.

So the true story emerges...

Thanks Bengt.

And here I thought it was because they were tired of the old logo and wanted to freshen things up.  ;D
