Check out the hand lever pivots.

There is (or was) a fellow up here who would buy those, replace the entire power train with BMW airhead bits, replace the wheel bearings, etc, and have a serviceable bike that stood a chance of being able to be used on modern roads.

...don't get too excited fellas, they are such junk that the Chinese army seriously dislikes having them even.... I see they are painting them black and posing as BMW's here in Aussie land, but they are mutton dressed as lamb.
The Russian bikes are totally different....they are OK if you like playing around with them, but the Chinese ones differ in material quality.

I tend to agree, though I've never owned a Chang Jiang personally, several people have told me that thay are called that because that is the sound one often hears along the road as bits break off. The DNEPR (Russian) bikes are better engineered, but still lacking in quality. The URAL bikes are certainly the best of that crop, and of course, now cost like they are the best, too. I'd consider getting a Ural, at least a recent vintage one, if I didn't have to run on the interstates so frequently to get places.

I own a 2000 Ural sidecar rig. As noted if you do not mind tinkering all the time they are ok. Some parts are getting harder to find for thr earlier models. That is why I bought my R65, to replace the Ural bike.
