She's a 1970 Honda Trail 90. The pics on Craigslist looked good. It was within my search of 0 to 500. Asking price $400 with a current title and keys! Met the seller, brought my 6V battery charger but no spark - not much compression either . . . For 41 years old, red patina very nice. And a cute chrome rack behind the single seat - which will work out great for carrying camera with me and hauling bike in bed of PU truck with trailer photographing neat places I hope to go.
I'm sorta burned out, after the R65 project. Not really caring if I got the bike or not, I told the seller what I thought the bike would need - nothing short of an overhaul.
I offerred him $300 and he countered at $325. Deal was sealed.
Took off top end last night - bike has 3,000 on clock but that's a lot of a little 90cc bike! Carbon is covering the valves and wrist pin was broke.
Taking parts to my engine guru Thursday - if I get off easy, it will be new rings and a valve job. Otherwise, it will be new cylinder, piston, rings, and valves - and of course a new wrist pin (that comes with piston and clips).
Attached is what the bike looks like. The neat thing about this model is that Honda made Millions of this bike and there is an abundance of parts available. I plan to stick with NOS parts - my experience with copies of parts made in China hasn't been great.
Anyway, will keep you posted as I make progress with my new pony.

These little bikes were EVERYWHERE around my neck of the woods and could withstand a surprising amount of abuse considering their simple frame design. It will be a trip down memory lane, for sure!
I even borrowed one of these to take my motorcycle licensing test as I hadn't a motorbike of my own at the time..

Ken, Very Cool [smiley=cool.gif] I was a teenager working at Honda of Boston when they were on the market. That 90cc engine is sweet and tough. Have Fun.
