Title: Birth date?
Post by: 2dogs1cat on August 23, 2011, 07:08:14 AM
I have a historical question to ask, when was bmwr65.org born?  Was it always bmwr65.org?  Could I have a history lesson please.
Thanks.

I think Rob Valdez could answer the question, I think he's been on this site in it's variuos shapes and forms the longest .

I think I've been here for about 8-9 years .

The founder had the username Sloth, I remember that.  He very rarely posted during the time since I joined.

The founder of R65.org was Jim Taggart, I believe he had an R45 if memory serves me correctly .

Alright, I did a little searching, (really slow day at work!!!!!!) .

I found an entry from Jim Taggart on Micapeak BMW R65 Registry.

 http://micapeak.com/reg/view/R65/all/2/325/YYYYYYY/

His is the 10th entry on the first page.

He made a statement in the entry, that he had just set up R65.org, the date on the entry is 10/12/2000.

So I guess that would make this site coming up on 11 years old .

It was originally r65.org and this "version" was started with the url bmwr65.org in November of 2005.  The original version pretty much got spammed out of existence so I started this board as a place where "refugees" from the old board could hang out try to decide what to do next and it pretty much evolved from there...

11 years is an eternity in the web-sphere!   But, not so old as many other motorcycling websites.
