Amazon sells some tinted safety glasses that are bifocals so that blind old farts like me can read the instruments.they are about $15.00.
I have a pair and a untinted pair and they are very useful and cheap.

Love my bifocal safety glasses at work, and I have bifocal welding goggles too. Always a hassle trying to find welding goggles that I can fit my reading glasses inside.

I really want a pair of these safety glasses for the shop (http://www.envirosafetyproducts.com/bi-focal-safety-glasses-reading-safety-glasses-light-vision-lights.html), but the least power the bifocal comes in is +1.5.
My store-bought reading glasses are +1.25, and they are too strong.
My optometrist said that +1.0 are sometimes available in the store.
I once had a pair of bifocal sunglasses made for me (I'm near-sighted, and only wear my glasses for driving/riding or watching TV) so that I might easier read a map in the top of my tank bag.
That didn't work out so well. They just sit in a case somewhere gathering dust.
