Title: Maybe the lowest mileage R65 around

Hi Guys,

Just bought the nicest 1986 R65 with 1407 original miles from an estate sale in Denver. the best thing about it was no one touched it since it was driven in a garage many years ago by the original owner. Still had the original bosh plugs (you can't get) in it. I have  a new R1200R but find myself riding the 65 all the time. awesome

That is a rare find - you should be proud!

Of all the current BMW production, the only model that trips my interest is the R1200R.

And you've just talked me out of buying the 1200  :)

Let me tell you a story then; Some 20 years ago, I called on an engineer at a mine in Tasmania; behind him was a picture of a Vincent HRD. I asked him about it & he said that it was indeed his; he noticed an add in the local Devenport paper for this bike and bought it still in its crate. Apparently the buyer passed away before he took delivery of it and his estate finally decided to get rid of it. He got it for a fraction of its value even then.

Graeme,

I hope I didn't talk you out of buying an R1200R, It is without a doubt the best bike I have ever had. I have it set up for sport touring, I can sit on it all day and for an old guy thats saying a lot. I can also keep up with anyone on our ride. For those short jaunts though the R65 put a smile on me, partly because I had an ls in my youth.
