right now is excellent time for us southwestUSA members to send one of those annoying pictures of yourself riding your bike in the sun to your weather whipped rider friends.
-
I could send a photo of my neighbor using my snowblower!
When he saw me prepping it for the season, he said "I'll clear your driveway if I can use it to do mine!"
A deal was struck! :)

I'm sick of rain.
Today is nice but it was icy this morning.

Gosh, I'm off for the next 10 days and was seriously thinking about taking a ride tomorrow. Enjoy the snow and ice every bit as much as we enjoy the 105 F days here in August. [smiley=cool.gif] [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif] [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

How do you calculate wind chill?
10 degrees at 60 MPH = what?
-
We have had a few drips the last couple of days, but we haven't had rain in about a month and it's hardly damped the ground, just bumped the humidity to about 200%.Temps were in 29 to 30 earlier this week - those are late feb and march temps here. This will be the 4th drought in a row in this region,a real tough time for farmers.
But it's great riding weather.
-
Dense fog this morning when I left for work at 0515 .
Visibility was at best 100 feet/30meters .
Motorcycles and dense fog don't mix very well .
I had to pull off the road remove my glasses and keep the visor open about half way until the visibility went up in a few miles .
Need a heated helmet visor in those conditions .
-
Bob, look into the Pinlock system for your helmet visor. I have one on my Shoei and I just can't fog it up. It isn't perfect, but it's very good.
I just got a new front tire on my modern bike in anticipation of my ride down to SoCal to see the families for the holidays. The Worry Channel says it's going to rain on me the whole way, and continue raining until at least Xmas eve. Oh well, I'll just imagine I'm back in Seattle.

Pin locks work well, as do Fog Cities if your helmet doesn't offer a Pinlock option.
I've been riding the bus this week. I just found out recently that I can do it. Weird. Relaxing. Cheap.

Here's a wind chill conversion chart from the NOAA .

I did when I lived/worked in Atlanta. Wind down time is nice...no traffic worries atall. I'm too far out in the boonies here, although I sure tried to find at least a partial route, with no luck. So I just retired. ::)
-
Neighbouring town Thornbury just 15 minutes down the road got 182 cm of snow! I can't imagine we are any different here. Just divide by 30 and ya got the feet and inches... :o
Just guess what I've been doing??!!
-
High broken clouds and 57F/14C at 1000 this morning, forecast high is 67F/19C .
Great riding weather, unless you head north into higher elevation .
-
Winter started very very early this year. Since November 20 we've had snow and freezing temperatures which is very unusual.
So no riding here!
To pass time I've worked on a model of the r65 in Google Sketchup and this is the result so far;

greetings from a cold and white north (23F and light snow)

Rain/Snow/Wind up here on Vancouver Island on any particular day. But I'll be in sunny Arridzona soon to do a little riding around there and SoCal and later New Mexico. Can't wait.

Ran Tuesday morning errands on the '81 R65 and the weather was spectacular. So nice I forget to stop for fuel and then Blackie coughed, begging for reserve. Bloody machines won't run without petrol.
Later, Bengt and I rode off for a barbecue lunch. He on his Guzzi and me on the Trophy as it was fueled. Checked temp when I got back... a pleasant 80F/27C with only a trace of wind. Great way to celebrate the Winter Solstice arrival.
Lynn and I road yesterday afternoon. The temperature was 75F/24C but a strong crosswind -and why is a stiff breeze always a Xwind?- was thirty mph. That big slab-sided Triumph was moving quite a bit. Lynn asked me later, "Honey, what were you doing with the sideways jogs?" Grrr...

Ah, December in Texas! Like Forrest Gump says, it's like a box of chocolates, you just never know what you'll get. Today it was 85F, a record high for the Winter Solstace. Yesterday was 79F. Took the R1100S out and put about 100 miles on it. True it was windy but that S cuts thru the wind like a razor blade through Jello. Thanks again for the lunch Monte, super good bbq. I think we're having more of the same tomorrow. And even better, the days begin to get longer tomorrow!

And Darwin, wet, monsoonal rains, min 25c, max 32c.
So it's too hot to put on wet weather gear that doesn't breath, but last thing you want is looking like a drowned rat when you get to work.
And Christmas in Darwin?
forecast is
Friday Monsoonal showers and storms. Min 25 Max 31
Saturday Monsoonal showers and storms. Min 24 Max 31
Sunday Monsoonal showers and storms. Min 24 Max 31
John.

We're getting a bit of a cold snap here in the Phoenix metro area .
At 1230 it's 49F/9C wind chill 41F/5C winds out of the WSW at 32 mph/53km/h .
Snow showers 50 miles/82km east and north of Phoenix .
A hard freeze warning for tonight/tomorrow morning .
It's not always warm here !!!!!
-
The weather here has been unusually cold. I know it doesn't seem like much to some of you but i has been in the low 20's F at night and only into the low 40's during the day. In this part of the US (coastal GA) that amounts to arctic conditions. Tonight it was in the low 50's and I donned full leather and rode ever turn and twisty in the county. Headlight on high beam, running on the edge and loving every minute of it. This R65 may not have it flat out but damn its fun to ride when the corners come up!
-
It was 30F/-1C this morning when I left for work at 0515 .
I took the R65 to work, as I anticipated a very light traffic flow on the way to work .
I missed the heated grips on the oilhead .
Forgot to put beer in the refrigerator yesterday, just put it in the pool today when I got home from work, water is a balmy 40F/4C, chilled it down in about 15 minutes .
-
We've gone from 4 feet of snow down to one foot in places! Green grass where we have shovelled walkways before!! AND it is 50 degrees F.!!!!! Balmy and grey and some rain! What a weird season so far!
I sure hope any Queensland forum members are OK!
