Title: Unknown Fairing Piece
Post by: Julio A. on December 25, 2010, 12:50:47 AM
Can somebody help me with the identification of this fairing piece on this bike:

That looks exactly like the fairing on my 1981 R65 I bought new,but in alpine green. It is BMW part # 46631240822 in primer still available.  I presently moved it to a 1983 R65LS with drop handlebars.I had to fab new longer bracket bars, notch the handlebar and turns sigal nothches out and cut rubber padding arund the guages out to make it fit tightly.I don't know if its an 81-81 or an 81R t0 83LS dimesion difference between the upper
and lower triple clamp brackets.           JEG

Julio, I scored a great deal on a similar mini-fairing at this year's Barber Festival flea market.

Mine is a Maier Sport fairing that I've carved up a bit to fit the Euro bars on the '81. Crafting some better mounts at this time. Brand new with all the hardware for $30. Mike talked me into it.

Not expecting any wind/weather protection; just playing with the "looks" of the bike right now.

Mmmmm..... Flea Market  :D
I wish there are events like those here.  ;D

I suddenly had a taste for small headlight mounted fairing styles.
I'd love to see your R65 with that Maier fairing. Looks awesome.
