I was at the dealership today picking up some oil and a filter, crush washers, etc., and on the way out a pre owned gray F800ST caught my eye.
It's an '08...18,000 miles...they just put "$1600" into it (obviously they're not paying full labor rates, but they did "$1600 worth" of service, including fork seals, new rubber on the footpegs, etc etc. Quite an exhaustive list.
Anyhow, with financing it's extremely affordable. Very tempting.
What say you guys? Is the F800ST a respectable bike in addition to an airhead?

Log onto http://f800riders.org/ lurk a little bit then ask the cats that ride 'em.
BTW, I considered one of the F800 Rotax rascals but after reading up about the bike, walked off.

I did a bit of browsing on F800Riders last night. Looks like they've got their share of issues (let's call it "character"). One thing influencing my decision is that BMW is offering a special on '09-and-earlier F800ST's until December 31. The special offer is $1200 worth of gear free with purchase (you pick the gear -- they give you $1200 in gift credit to the dealership, so you can really spend it on anything).
Pretty cool.

I always find that really annoying.
What they're telling you is the the previous owner neglected the motorcycle to the point where it needed $1600 spending on it to make it a saleable commodity.
Hopefully it's below list in that case?

Some folks like them, but you don't see a lot of them around. I'm sure it's a good engine but to me there is just no, how do you say it, "joi d'vive" with that bike. For my part, it's a BMW in name only.

Not being a True BMW, ie made in Berlin. I would fear the resale value. Cool Bike though, but then so is the Can Am Spyder.
But what do I know? I ride an old 650.

Resale prices here in the phils ain't really good for the early F series.
Feedback from some oilhead riders I knew said that the F800S in particular lacked in the power department; They also said the handling is funny too.
I'd say they were just comparing it to their R bikes.
Those guys are purists!!!! ;D

If you, like me, are a bit confused as to the course alterations of our favorite motorcycle manufacturer, here's the latest "naked" BMW to go along with the S1000RR.

In a semi-sarcastic, wise ass vein, move a few letters around and you can call this latest model BMW the New Millennium R80. :-?
Sure, sure... $9995.00USD. I'll betcha every one on your local dealer's floor will be over $12K before tax, title and tag. For that money, I'd rather add a couple freshened Airheads to my collection. I'm just saying...
