Hi all,
finally got my new LS together after having the replacement tank and the bodywork painted. I followed Bruce's advice and did the battery covers in satin black, and I reckon they look better than the original silver. Yesterday was the first time I've really taken the bike out but I continue to be impressed by my baby Beemer.

Looks sharp!
Black sidecovers is what these bikes were originally painted at the factory - along with the lower edges of the fuel tanks it gave the bike a longer/leaner/lower appearance by making the "bright" painted bits (faring, fuel tank, seat cowling) all have the same lower edge line.
I still need to get some boots on my baby's fork legs to protect them & the fork seals better than the original dust covers.

Beautiful LS!. Absolutely immaculate. It looks like it could have just rolled off of the showroom floor. I know you will get a lot of compliments as you motor around the countryside. [smiley=thumbup.gif] [smiley=thumbup.gif] [smiley=thumbup.gif]
But I have a question. What is that disk on the right side of your front fender?
-
Usually, it's for a 'road tax', or vehicle registration sticker .
-
Thanks for all the compliments. The bike looked pretty good to start with having only suffered fairly minor corrosion on the black engine paint since she came to the wet UK from the warmth of mediterranean Italy five years ago. She's only done around 17,500 miles and rides like new. Ive done little more than clean the wheels and arrange the respray. The disk on the right hand fork leg is a tax disk holder - we have to pay £66 annually for the privilege of riding on the poorly maintained pot-holed and broken-surfaced roads in the UK in addition to the 90% tax already levied on petrol which is around £1.10 a litre!

Ah yes tax.... a concept our colonial brothers wouldn't understand a bit like communism really.
Lou
btw great bike, which part of England does it live in??
-
Lou - don't mention the Tea Party!
Bike lives in deepest Somerset and shares the garage with my beautiful '76 R90S. I bought the LS as a daily ride but I'm already thinking she's too nice to be out in all weathers!
-
Dont be shy get some pics up of the R90........please

Nice! I dig the bags as well as the crash bars. (I wasn't sure how crash bars would look on an LS.) An inspiration.

EXCELLENT!!!!!!
Enjoy it. I soon will follow.
