I was just on their site pricing a few things that I don't really need for a month or 2 (their normal delivery time ::) ).
Using the part #s from Max's fiche, everything I've checked is coming up with full retail prices at Chicago.
Have they stopped discounting Beemer parts? :-?
-
They can't advertise their discount prices on their website, call them up to confirm this .
BMW made them pull their discounted prices from the website a while back .

I just ordered bags from them (over the phone). It's cool.
Internet ordering is safe, too (you get the discount when you present your payment info), but call if you want them to check the warehouse, of course.

I, too, call first to confirm in stock items. ChiTown BMW does not notify you if items are backordered. They do charge your credit card and get the use of your money while you wait for the b/o items... and wait... and wait.
While we are discussing BMW parts vendors, permit me to recommend highly Mr. Hans Lowe, a one-man band owner/operator of Hucky's Spare Parts and Repros located in Vero Beach, Florida. http://www.bmwhuckys.com
I have dealt with Hans a few times and find him knowledgeable and courteous. My last order was placed via email on Thursday morning, 04 March 2010. Order was in my mailbox on Saturday, 06 March 2010. Already installed the carb-to-head rubber sleeves and cured my 81's slow to return to idle revs issue.
Hans specializes in older BMWs. Not a lot of R65-specific parts, but many items Hans stocks are BMW generic and will cross pollinate.
Do check out his web site. Photos of most bits accompany very fair pricing.

I don't know, I'm just struggling with this concept. If I have to go to Max's or another fiche to get parts numbers, which also tells me retail prices, and then to Chicago with the #, which also only gives me retail, then why does their website exist, at least for parts? :-?
If you have to call to get a price, then why not just call to begin with? And if I wanted to talk to someone, that's what I'd do, but I'm usually ordering parts on the weekends or at night.
Seems like in the 21st century, a big dealership with a large website like theirs could give their actual prices, especially since they don't have photos or advertising, and you have to get the BMW part # elsewhere. :P
Enough b*tchin' and moanin', sorry, that wasn't my intent here...

You can order parts through Chicago BMW's website, and you will get the 20% discount on the parts.
You will see this discount when you give your payment information.
Maybe they save money from no photos or fiche or advertising and pass that along to the customer.
