Earlier on, I posted that only one of my cylnders was working but now after a few hours of trial and error, it's fixed. If anybody guessed spark plugs, you're right! Any suggestions on which spark plugs work best? Also when i got everything in working order after going at those plugs with a wire brush, i was cranking on my gas and some heavy black smoke shot out of side that was working the whole time. SHould I be worried?

I really like NGK BP7ES. I have been using them for a long time. I get mine at the local Japanese M/C dealer.

As far as how your bike is running, it is possible a tune up is in order. Check the timing, make sure you have a clean air filter, make sure your ignition coil is not cracked. You may need to renew the heat-sink paste on your ignition control unit.

There are probably other things to suggest, but I am a bit under the weather right now. Others will chime in, I am sure.

+1 on what Rob said. Also the NGK BR7EIX resistor plug is what I am using right now. Expensive but I am not replacing them every 9,000 miles. Make sure they are gapped right. The distance seems to open up as the plugs age and you have to bend the tip closer to the electrode to get the right gap. (.025") When I have access to one I will also bead blast the the ends to remove carbon and clean the plugs. Remember if you accidently drop a plug while you have it out, just throw it in the trash. You do not want to take a chance on something being broken inside where you cannot see.
