Title: BMW Trials Bike

I came across this on the Adventure Rider forum.  

How in the heck did they do this?  Any ideas as to the origin of the frame?

The welding looks pretty rough round the swinging arm and theres a gap on the flange, my guess is its been fabricated in someones garage.

Looks more enduro-ish than trials. Different style tires, lights, speedo (front fork leg), tool bag, etc. Strange looking. One-off I'm sure    Monte

Seems like its been put into a jap frame of some sorts. Single sided swing by the looks and must be a kickstart box as to save head room in the frame they have removed the starter and cover plates as well as the battery. unless thats tucked up somewhere. Interesting. Alot of work gone into it,but could have used some finer touches.

Looks a little bit ('cept for the swingarm) like on of the earlier ISDT competition bike designs that BMW did race during the development of the /5 and through the early 70s.   I've read about this in one of my BMW history books..

The "best" part is - that is a modified R65 frame that R80 engine is sitting in (with seriously modified swingarm, of course!)
