Title: Can anyone identify this BMW?
Post by: alexznam357 on September 27, 2009, 04:36:37 PM
Spotted this on the Net. It's at the BMW Museum in Munich and appears to be an early racing bike (the caption stating it is a "WW2 BMW" is wrong). I'm pretty familiar with BMW's Rennsport racers and the compressor racing bikes from the '30s, but have never seen this bike before. Those handlebars are wicked!

An added plus is you can scan through this student's vacation photos of Munich... :)

I think we may be looking at a R47, around 1927.

I think you're right, Rob. The museum bike is a stripped down version (no front brake or fender)...maybe for a board track? I haven't yet found a BMW-run website that shows the bikes in their museum...that would be nice.
