Well, since we couldn't go "slay the Dragon" Suraklyn and I went down to the Texas Hill Country (few hundred miles south of here) and rode around in the 100+ degree sun for a few days. We also visited "Stonehenge II" just to be able to say we actually went someplace.
The R1150 RTP and his R1200ST ran flawlessly and the Hexhead consistently got about 4 mpg better than my 45 MPG. It seems this RTP just likes 45 MPG as that's about what I get in my commute to work...
Now that we're back Monte can quit sniping at me... >:(

Cut me some slack, J... I been selling your shift linkages. Yeah. Monte ;)
-
You still owe me a bag of sand...
-
Did y'all "ride" the Three Sisters?
-
I don't think so, I'll have to get the map from Suraklyn to be sure but I think we rode part of the "Lost Maples"(?) route which was extremely "interesting". Suraklyn dragged a peg a time or two on the ST...
-
The 3 Sisters are FM 335, 336, and 337. If you went through Leakey & Lost Maples then you were on the route. Stonehenge in Hunt is pretty cool. I liked the Easter Island statues at the same place.
-
I thought you were talking about this place....

I think that's out in West Texas somewhere...

It's near Amarillo - I've seen it as we whizzed by....

Oh gawd - I love it - Stonehenge II

We have a local Stonehenge as well, over by the Maryhill museum just on the WA side of the Columbia on highway 97. I don't know if it's full scale though.
-
This one is 2/3 scale...
-
At least it's not like the "Stonehenge" that was in the movie, "This is Spinal Tap"! ;D

I've been through Paris (TX) quite a few times. I'll try to remamber to take a pic next time... ;D

We've got Foamhenge here in VA. Full scale replica made of styrofoam. Built as an April Fool's prank, and just left there on the hill. My favorite part is the sign explaining the history of Stonehenge and that in was built over hundreds of years using thousands of laborers. It then goes on to say that Foamhenge was built in three weeks by three mexicans and one crazy white guy.

The bike, coincidentally enough is for sale, but the admission to foamhenge is free!
