Title: Interesting "cousin" of the R65 on Ebay!
Post by: SCJJR65 on May 05, 2009, 06:53:18 AM
Check this somewhat rare "cousin" of the R65GS (which ha been seen on this forum every now and then) which NCSteve found on Ebay and emailed me the info on.  It's a Moto-Guzzi V65TT, and looks very much like the early BMW R80GS.  (If I had the extra dough, I'd be very tempted to go for the "Buy It Now" price!)  Pretty nice lookin' bike!   [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Amazing! 1900 miles and 23 years old. One wonders where he found that.

greetings from a very windy, cool, and sunny north

The BIN seems reasonable even to a cheapskate like me!

Wow!

That does appear to be a "rara avis" as my monsignor used to say..
I didn't think that these were imported for sale in the US.   I do, sometimes come across the occasional V65 Lario, but never one of these.
It does look pristine and I'm sure that whoever bought it would likely win the "rarest bike" prize in almost any crowd.

Nice!

How does a Moto Guzzi stack up against a BMW? I have always thought the BMW was a better quality machine. The Moto’s have that elegant Italian engineering.......produce some beautiful bikes...but the quality of production dragged  them down...too much cost cutting. I have heard the electrical systems can only be described as cheap. The Germans......while they produce some nice looking machines like the R65 ........also made what I think are some really ugly bikes...........but made them to last forever.
However, I came across a Moto Guzzi V35III.............beautiful , beautiful  ::)machine....still kicking myself for not buying it. I guess that is typical male thinking.......she has a beautiful body.....and that is all that matters. ::)

That's quite an elegant machine and a good price.  I can't speak to that specific model but I love my Guzzi California Special Sport.  The only difficulty that most folks have is a lack of broad dealer support.  I think the problem with this little 650 would be finding any plastic parts that might break.  Most power train components can be had with little or no trouble.  I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Guzzi, in fact I have my eye on the Stelvio but then what would I do with my R100GS?

One of these rascals sold on Uk ebay recently for Oh I can't remember, but it was much less than the equivalent R800GS would have been. Known as the 'Quota' a strange name but I think they're a very fine looking bike. Sadly, compared with an R80GS they're underpowered, heavier, poor handing and very thirsty for petrol, according to a number of contributors on ADV forum.
