It's getting on toward the time when we can get out and ride now. In fact, Feyonce' and I have our annual Spring Wildflower ride planned for this weekend. The bluebonnets are out in North Texas now so I'm sure they are even more plentiful to the south around the Hill Country. I'll be wanting to take a lot of photos along the way.
With that in mind, I have a new Nikon D70 digital SLR I picked up from eBay a couple of months ago. Vibration on a motorcycle can't be avoided so I'm looking for suggestions for a good camera bag to minimize the vibrations?

I don't know if it is really a problem. I have a Nikon Coolpix (going on 3 years old) and I just sort of wrap it up in a hand towel and toss it into a fairing pocket or saddlebag...

I would get a decently sized, but not huge, tank bag and put a bit of that foam stuff in that they use for lining the inside of instrument cases or inside of gun cases in the bottom and the sides. Or, if you don't have access to such foam, probably stop by a staples office supply store and buy a small roll of that bubble wrap plastic to tuck in the tank bag. I should think the camera would be fine with that - or worst case, wear a back pack and put it in there (or have your wife wear it if she is riding as passenger).
There are many good brands of motorcycle bags out there. I've got some saddlebags from Nelson Rigg that are very good , and I've got a magnetic tankbag from DowCo like this one:

which works very well for me for carrying stuff like cameras, cell phones, raingear, water bottle, snack bars, maps, etc. I swap the magnetic tank bag from my R65 to my Kawasaki Concours frequently and it does the trick, is well made, and is rather inexpensive.

Might suggest a call to someone you know in Austin "Keep It Weird" Texas. My eldest son and family live there and they are in a serious drought situation in the Hill Country. Forecast for Bluebonnet Season is questionable.

Thanks Monte. Feyonce's son lives in Austin, and we'll camp there tomorrow night. I'm really not expecting too much in the way of flowers since it has been so dry. Spring of '07 was about as good as it gets though, that was a fantastic year.
Even so, just getting out to ride will be a great feeling. I haven't had a day off all year and I'm ready to ride. The Moto Guzzi gets the nod this weekend.
