What about an electric one? Lots of initiative to go green now!! We may be forced to go back to cigarette pack cardboard between the spokes for our "sound" fix!!!

So I wonder how it would do with a set of Jesse Bags on the back and a oversize fuel tank?  Does it have a glow plug???  Only 500Watt alternator?  Hurrumph.

Interesting.  The more I fiddle carbs, the more I want FUEL INJECTION.   ;)

There was a US-based company that was starting to make diesel-powered bikes for the US military - they appeared to be based on the KAwasaki KLR 650, but with a different engine of course.   They were struggling to stay afloat but perhaps with the "green" incentives they may find renewed interest in their product if they make a version for
civilian purchase - and bring the cost down.  LAst report I saw had those army bikes at over $20K a piece..... kinda like the gold plated toilet seat cover deal..

There is a company that makes an electric motorcycle in the US as well - the frame is actually all carbon fiber, I think.  It is very light and would be good for scooting around town on errands, but I wouldn't want to try to take it onto a major highway as it would get blown right off the road by the first semi going past.   An interesting
concept, though, and these cost around $15K are present:

So, you could either get one of these or a new R1200RT !
