Title: Thought I had some problems...
Post by: aussie on November 14, 2008, 11:07:16 PM
I've wondered off and on over the years why the flashers weren't working - but never got around to looking into it. Before I mounted the fairing I pulled the back off the instrument housing.

Ahhhhh, now I know.  :o

I seem to be missing something......

As the folks at NASA would say....."Houston, we have a problem".

I, on the other hand, inherited an extra flasher (relay?) with my bike....  ??

That is s-o-o-o nasty! Here's an idea... Duct tape one of the new and way cool R65.Org flashlights on your helmet!

Thanks Monte for the suggestion - I may just take it up - I think it will be cheaper in the long run.

I think it is more than just the relay - I didn't see any of the appropriate wiring or connections at all. As I said ages ago, when I first got the bike, I thought it had a bit of hard life - though I didn't mention that the wiring was shot. I'm not sure what the previous owner had done, but he had made it into a bit of cafe racer and ultimately it required a lot of new wiring.

Next weekend, apart from taking the bike out for a lengthy test ride (its a hard job, but someone has to do it), I want to take the fairing off and have a really good look at the hazard system and see if the wiring has just been taped up somewhere that I didn't see at a cursory glance.

Aw, that picture is two years old.  I haven't got that far in the tear-down, yet.

There is always the Kisan SM-1 which would also give you running lights, turn signal cancelling, and emergency flashers in addition to four way flashers.

Neat idea, Bill.  Just what I've been looking for.
Have you tried the Kisan yet?

Yep.  Installed right now.  The box is tucked in with fuses on the Right hand side of the bike.
