Just having a chuckle when reading some of the posts recently on Boxerworks.... A right old ding-dong....
helicoils or inserts anyone?
Probably need to go over and waggle a stick in a hornets nest again and see what developes.... ;)

Sometimes they have much worse thread degradation than what we have here, that's for certain !
-
I quit participating over there a couple of years ago, I'm trying to keep this board a bit more civilized. It's rather pathetic when a question gets posted, gets about 20 replies in the first couple of hours and only one reply attempts to answer the question while the rest question the posters sanity for wanting to do whatever or putting him down for something else, or proclaiming the way the poster suggests is plain stupid and "this is how I would do it..."
Total thread degradation is fun, and sometimes begged for, once the original issue has been dealt with...
-
The thread in question:
http://www.boxerworks.com/phorum/read.php?f=1&i=239770&t=239770
The thread degradation is why I only view that site in threaded view, so I can see the various sub-threads going on.
I appreciate your efforts to try and keep degradation to a minimum here, Justin.

Well, I feel that one the original posting is satisfied then it's "fair game" - let the degradation begin! [smiley=evil.gif] But, I'm afraid I would have moved it to the "rant" section...
-
:o They get serious about their rhetoric, don't they. ::) Glad we all have respect for each other over here - or at least we hold our tongues... ;)
That's why I'm not interested in participating over there....
-
It is definitely two different worlds.
But compared to Adventure Rider (http://www.advrider.com/Bikes/Bikes.html), Boxerworks is just boys out back after Sunday School...
I don't go there unless someone links something to it.
Or to steal their smilies... ::)

I would participate in this thread degradation but I have to go cook dinner.... ;)
Wow Rob that was a flame war. Glad such things don't happen here!

Perhaps we should pitch in and buy them some lolliepops...

Bill,
I have a very "malleable" personality. When I am among a group of people, I get swept up in their style. I am a different person on B'works than I am here. It is the way I am. At the particular time of those postings, I just thought the way of that place was the person that could swear with the most emphasis goes to the head of the class, so to speak.
Well, the whole thing resulted in an unfortunate and seemingly irreconcilable difference.
I'm not proud of it.

Hi Rob,
Ouch! My first run in with the world wide web was a SF fandom web site back in the early '90's. There was one person who didn't like anybody elses opinion on that particular forum. Every thread went up in flames. I left and never looked back. Life is too short. ;)
My policy is to not speak in absolutes and to respect other people's opinions. I try to remember that my two cents is worth just that.
To me the Boxerworks forum is a resource. Until you pointed that particular thread out I had never seen a bonified flame war on Boxerworks. I usually pass through with a search when I'm looking for an answer to a question that the Snowbum hasn't answered. If I'm really stuck I just call Nathan on the phone. He gets me pointed in the right direction in a minimum of time.
We are sooooo lucky to have such a good group here! 8-) We are also lucky to have people who care about our old bikes in Watkinsville GA.
TTFN,

Hi Bill
Agreed, life is too short for reading the uninformed opinions of insolent people. Give me a good story, a relevant piece of information, something to ponder about, a nice dialog and the feeling of being welcome at any time, and that is the place I like to be.
This forum does all of the above which is why I have been hanging on for four years now.
