All you Texans, PLEASE be sure that you're not on the coastline and if you need to, head to higher ground !
I'll be thinking of you and praying that you don't suffer injuries to your families or damages to your homes from this storm.
Is there anyone on this board who lives in Galveston ? :-/

I dunno but the DFW area is supposed to be at tropical storm force tomorrow, never seen that before! Guess I take the cage to work tomorrow morning...

You Texans take care, ya hear? Y'all take care and get out of the surge area. Oh, too late for that if you aren't out of there by now.
I've been checking out Ike all day while at work. Scary. I'd have been 1,000 + miles north by now if I lived in that area. :o
A relative of mine way back, maybe great grandfather's brother or something like that, was lost in the 1900 hurricane in Galveston.

Ike was kind of a flop around here. It tracked further east than expected and we just got a few hours of drizzle out of it. Damn, I need some real rain!

I have a neice attending Rice in Houston and have been quite worried. But Rice has their own power generators and quite a plan in place. They all hunkered down in an old dorm that was built back in 1912 (?) and made it through safe and sound. Whew!
Galveston looks horrible....

...Galveston looks horrible....
Our friends in that area say it's the smell. All muni services are down and many folks are tossing their "human waste" into the nearest gutter. Sounds like Sadr City without the IEDs.

I'm in Richmond, 30 miles SW of Houston. We got Hurricane-force winds and a lot of rain. Some people lost power for a while, but most didn't. Rode the LS all over town after the rain quit. Enjoyed it as there was very little traffic.

I was in New Orleans the night before Ike hit Galveston. Landed in 40 knots winds in a rain shower on my end of the runway. Thank goodness for rainx!! Ike cancelled my flight into Houston Hobby the next afternoon.....
Gumby the pilot. 8-)
