I believe that I saw these advertised a little over a year ago - one attached a 'tether' from the jacket to
the handlebar or some similar, rugged piece of the bike's anatomy. The other end of the tether within the jacket
connected to a device that triggered the CO2 cartridges, or whatever compressed gas cartridges where being used
to inflate the jacket. Apparently the jacket had a kevlar type lining, so that the air bladders wouldn't be easily abraded
or punctured through. The theory being that if you and your bike parted company unexpectedly, your jacket would
'instantly' inflate to provide your body the air-cushioned protection of the Michelin Man.. while I could see this as being
helpful if one is flying through the air into a windshield, tree, or guardrail, I wonder if one were 'simply' sliding on the
asphalt if this would have a tendency to cause one to bounce, and possibly prolong the slide, .ie not decelerate well, or
possibly tumble, rather than sliding...
An interesting product - I wonder how many have been put to the ultimate test so far ?

About 10 years or so back a bloke called Dr Brian Chinn worked for the transport and road reserch lab and lobbyed for compulsary leg protctors and airbags fitted to bikes. I was unlucky enough to try riding one of the leg protector bikes and its is proabably the worst bike I have ever ridden. Horrid to balance at low speed and worst of all if the air bag had been active it would have gone off on the first heavy rut I hit on the road... Not a good idea unless your one perfect tarmac which you dont fine much in the UK

Bob, I fixed your link. You are trying to put too much thought into it. You don't have to remember anything, just click the "Insert Hyperlink" button and paste or type in your link and the forum will add the necessary codes...
