Does anybody have experience with the Nelson-Rigg luggage system? I'm thinking about getting the CL-850 touring saddle bags for the BSA Thunderbolt. They are inexpensive. I'm just hopeing they are not cheap.

I've got a pair of them - actually there were called SB-900 last year when I bought mine.
I've only used them for a few trips, but they seem well made and can hold quite
alot. They came with some straps to hold the front and back ends of each bag
to the frame that work fairly well, but if there isn't something in the bags to weight
them down a bit they still move around a bit more than I like. I used them to ride
to last year's BMWMOA rally in VT (about 180 miles for me ) through a couple tremendous rainstorms, and
everything stayed dry.
They are about as large a bag as I'd want to put on the R65 - these will clear the mufflers
as long as you keep the top straps adjusted and put the U part of the saddlebag on top of
the seat, rather than trying to fit it under. I have had no problems with melting anything
and would recommend them if you need to carry a fairly large amount of stuff.
The company's warranty is good, and they aim to please their customers. They originally
screwed up one of my orders last year, and I called to complain/correct the problem. I figured
that I wasn't going to get my rain suit in time for the rally, but they express shipped it to me at their
expense so that it would arrive at my place in time. I would do business with them again.

Bill, I spent a fair bit of time several months ago researching various brands and types of soft luggage, and finally narrowed the search down to Nelson-Rigg and Cortech/Tourmaster. I finally bought Cortech as I found some excellent sale prices, but would have been equally happy with Nelson-Rigg, I'm sure.
I do have one of their bike half-covers that I use when camping, and they really seem to make some top notch stuff. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
Don't know where all you've shopped, but you might want to look at Amazon.com, in addition to the usual places. They have scads of luggage at some really good prices, and you can comparison shop easily too.
