The famed Stelvio Pass, in the northern Italian Alps.... (sigh).... One of these days.... ::)
-
Wow, that picture looks so good it looks fake. I might wreck my bike. Usually I'm pretty good at ignoring the scenery and focusing very hard on the road, but places like that would be a severe test of that skill.
Yeah, I'm pretty much one who's out there to ride; when I want to see things I pull over and stop and look at them.
-
Strange. The pic does look kinda fake even though I know for a fact that it's not.Snow on the road perhaps?
-
The next road trip of my dreams is to the Stillwater Campground, just outside Lexington, Ky. It is the Beemers in the Bluegrass Rally starting on Sept 7. Anyone else interested????? Dew.

Do you need to borrow my bike? Your butt will be sore as hell after the first day...

NICE picture, John!
I can't wait to get home and check it out on Google Earth!

Dick, if this is the route you plan take in September of this year, make sure you have some cold riding gear with you, it can get quite cold, (well at least from a low desert resident's viewpoint) at this time of year in the higher elevations.

That thought did occur to me and I have invested in a pair of padded cycling shorts to wear under my gear. ;D

I must admit its getting quite cold here in Switzerland especial late afternoon and early morning and most of the rides are just 6000ft, some of the points on the trip are near 11,000ft. 1st thing I'm going to pick up when we get to Denver is an electric vest. Someone tipped me (A fisherman) that women's pantyhose are good at keeping your legs warm. Never considered cross dressing before but who knows, I may get a taste for it. ;)
-
Joe Namath thought the hosiery were a good idea, but for some reason they never caught on...
-
Well. I never thought about using pantyhose to keep my legs warm...(at least on the bike) :-/
I have silk long johns that I wear and they work great. They also pack up small when you don't need them.
The electric vest certainly makes a difference, too!!!

I have polar fleece sweat pants, very comfy under the leather pants. Good into the high teens, at least for my hour 1-way commute.
-
I picked up a snowmobile suit and havent worried about the cold since.
