Title: Is $95 too much to get one wheel powder coated
Post by: Sspandra on January 14, 2008, 10:32:55 PM
My rear wheel is off due to a leaky final drive. So I got a price to get the rear wheel striped and powder coated white. Is $95 too much?
Also any suggestions on black paint for the frame?
Thanks
Spencer

i pay a $100 for powder coating, if i walk in with one piece its $100, if i walk in with 50 its $100. so i plan on taking in my frame, swingarm, front end and what ever else so it ends up being alot cheaper than the one piece as i get them ready.

that doesnt include the media blasting, i do that myself.

I did not have my frame powder coated, so I cannot recommend specific powder paints.  I did sand and paint the frame
with (even using a brush !) POR-15's chassis coat black paint.  Amazingly, it smoothes itself out and leaves virtually no brushmarks.
It is VERY thick, so as a very novice spray painter I'm not sure how you'd cut it to work well in a moderate pressure air gun system.
If you don't want to strip your bike down to the frame for powder coating, I could recommend this product for a "do it yourself" job
that wouldn't require such a full teardown.
