Title: Year end reflection
Post by: Justin B. on January 21, 2007, 12:04:50 AM
Maybe I should have made not buying so much crap to my list of New Year's resolutions.  :-/  For some reason I added up all of my Chicago BMW invoices for 2006 and they came up to $896.06.  :o  But, I guess if I spread that across 5 bikes it's not that bad...  ::) So, probably adding in my orders from Euro Moto-Electric and Eurotech I'll have about $1100 total.   :P

How many miles are you getting total on those bikes, to come up with that kind of money?  If you're actually restoring or fixing up bikes all bets are off, but that sounds like way too much for maintainance.

Is that a normal figure for you, or have you ever figured it out before?  I never have.   Probably best!

If you enjoy it, ignore it.

I started to think about if I laid of the weekend pub how much more I oculd have spent on my bike etc etc, but then I was miserable for money spent or miserable for good times out I wouldn't have had.

Mates, lady (briefly), bikes and beer. Could have spen it on worse things........

I have more regrets over the things I sold rather than the things I bought.

Several hundered of that has been it bits trying to get this '82 LS going and I also buy a lot of extra stuff as well.  If I need an O-ring or crush washer I usually order 10 of 'em as I'm sure I'll be needing more in the future.  Also, re-badging/decaling bikes after paint ain't real cheap...  So, as far as pure maintenance goes, I have no idea what was spent - I was just making an observation that ordering $100 here and $30 there over the course of a year adds up to more than one would realize...   I probably ride about 8000 miles/year, combined.

Speaking of rebadging/decaling, Justin, would you happen to have a source for the 60mm roundel decal on the rear seat cowl?
All the parts fiches I've checked seem to show it as NLA. Perhaps there's a substitute available?
Thanks for any ideas.

NC Steve,

If you can't find a US source for the roundel, I'm pretty sure Moto-Bins in England can get it for you!  I've purchased several items from them, and they are good to deal with (and their prices are almost the same as in the states)!  ;)

Steve,

I checked our fiche and found part #52537686464 still available.  You are talking about the badge that goes on the tail piece behind the seat, right?  Greensboro actually has one in stock (if their inventory numbers are right...)  for $8.50.  Give them a call.

Thanks, Aida, I appreciate it! I'd done some more looking and found a different part #, 52532325181, but the badge was still NLA everywhere but at Bob's, where it's priced @ $8.59.
But, I'd much rather save the s&h and run down to Carolina and pick that one up. I work in Greensboro and need to get by there anyway to see George about a missing carb hootus.
Will call them in the morning: thanks again.  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
