MrRidden / Rich I think I remember that you were looking for a set of red turn direction lenses, well I saw a set on eBay today, for $9.00 at this time.

That's handy if they want to convert their turn signals to running lights. In Oregon, anyway, running lights have to be red, not yellow. Mike, did that guy at Bretts tech day have a chance to rant to you about his ticket?
My guess is that abusing the cop verbally like he claimed to have done is probably not a good way to get let off easy. In Portland he was lucky to not have been shot.
Hey Bob, if you see repro Lucas red lenses let me know please!

I'm kind of curious as to where they are coming from, the only lenses I see in the ETK are amber and blue. Any of our German Brethren know anything about these red lenses?
-
Justin,
Those lenses are probably what I've heard referred to as "pattern parts". During my years werking on Britt bikes it was not unusual for some enterprising fellow to take a rare or desirable part and have copies made in batches to fill precollected orders. I've seen everything from tail light lenses to pistons offered up in modest quantities as copies of the original. this was done primarily out of necessity as the marques were no longer in business. We are truly spoiled with our BMW's as there is still the ability to get parts from a maker who is still in operation. There is even a well known company who offers pattern parts as a part of their business [EMGO]. Now who out there knows a friend of a friend who works around injection molding equipment or does business with Chinese manufacturing job shops? I'll place the first order or perhaps go in on a run of... oh say 200-500 pieces. Thats probably how these came about. At least thats my best guess for now.

I have never "inspected" any of these so can't comment on whether they are aftermarket pieces or not. You are probably correct, but OTOH the volume/call for these is likely so small that I can't see anybody turning out a batch of them.
