Morning all,
Just been trawling the web and along the lines of my passion for cafe rcaers, I was wondering if any of you can steer me in the direction of some Airhead racers. I can see a few sites sighting where a bike has won in a calssic class etc, but does anyone who was old enough at the time remeber anyone of note who raced on these bikes? Where, when etc? Can find plenty on the bmw car racing history, not much on the bikes. Maybe our German firends could point me in the direction......
thanks in advance.

one of the best is the r90s that won the 76 ama superbike championship driven by steve mclaughlin, gary fisher & reg pridmore.
check out http://www.rockerboxer.com he has alot of nice pixs of cafe/racer bikes. no history though.

Yes, I like the rockerboxer site for some great pics !
I do recall the AMA race win that Jon P notes above, but my memory
for motorcycle stuff is constantly being flushed out with the need to remember
new electronics stuff. I did find a book that might be of interest to you, that has
some substantial history of BMW racing (I don't have the book - but am thinking
about getting a copy). Here is a link, which wil hopefully work:

i love speed. flat out running crazy bonneville salt fast to ama superbike track fast. the thing i fear the most is these bikes on the street with us! i used to work with a guy who has a gsxr1300 with a turbo! he has had it over 220 mph alot of times! he has done it on the street (scary) and on a drag strip. i have seen the gps speed trips!! that is nuts!

That much power in uncontrolled circumstances is just nuts.
