anyone know how to take apart the speedo??? i'm stumped. i took out all 3 phillips head screws, then the nipples that hold the white part in place broke off...then i tried moving it around and ended up bending the speedo needle stops (where it stops at 0 and 85) and now a whole bunch of rust came up from the bottom and is covering the face so now the perfect black is tainted. the reason i took it off in the first place was because there was something ratteling inside and after all this i messed it up even more. Then my tach stopped working, all the lights inside work fine but when i turn on the bike, the needle goes all the way to the redline and stays there. HELP!!!!

To remove the internal workings of the speedometer, you need to remove the glass bezel, by cutting and pulling out the crimped metal that holds the glass in place.
There are no parts available to repair the speedometer, you have to cannibalize another speedometer, send it in for a costly repair, or buy another one .
The tachometer has a printed circuit card inside with semi-conductor components, corrosion and cracks in the board and solder joints have caused problems in the past.
