The steering damper on my R65 no longer damps. The body length is approx. 6.5" and the rod length 12". Has anyone replaced their's and which brand and model dig you get.
Thanks,
Jim

I believe steering dampers aren't original equipment, so if you liked the performance previously I'd go back with the same manufacturer.

This is where I bought mine when I just knew I had to have one. www.fastfromthepast.com He is helpful but they don't come cheap.

Steering dampers were OEM parts, doubtful they are still available from BMW .

Went out in '85, so we're both right! ;D

Thanks for the info.
Found an Ohlins that would fit, but at ~$500, I kept looking the Fast From the Past NHK at ~150 is cheap.

Hi Sleeping Dog,
I know this is a bit dated, but I second fastfromthepast. Jim Henshaw set me up with the ODM500. It went in right where the OEM was, no mods. $85 and good enough for the salt flats. http://www.fastfromthepast.com/odm500
I have a post here circa 2014/2015 about its install with photos.
