Title: Motobins or Motorworks
Post by: MikeFossl on July 16, 2018, 10:41:39 AM
Looking to buy new mufflers.  Any other recommendations shipped to British Columbia Canada?

Motorworks has cheaper shipping but prices are similar.

The two most popular after market exhausts that approximate stock (mufflers and headers, available separately) are Staintune and Keihan.  Keihan were a little bit cheaper for me, so I went with a pair of silencers a few years ago.  They've been great.  A quick search for those manufacturers will get you to their websites for price checking.

I've ordered a pair of new Keihan "silencers" from Motorworks.  Pricing is the same as the manufacturer's website and shipping is less.

I'll post with with how shipping to the west coast of Canada works out.

So the mufflers arrived today from Motorworks.  6 days from when they were shipped.  Initially, they held up the order waiting for me to authorize a higher shipping cost, but once I let them know that I had verified the shipping cost before I placed they order, they stood by the original estimate.  I was charged local taxes and a $10 handling fee, so all in a good purchase.  Motorworks is a viable option for Western Canada.

Sure, but how do they look on the bike?!?

I have to say, they look almost identical to the originals apart from no rust or perforations.

The change in sound was dramatic.  The original right side muffler was completely rusted out where as the left one was still in good shape.  The new mufflers are much quieter and a much lower tone.  The engine seems smoother which may be psychological or perhaps the evening out of back pressure.
