hi Guys, since one week got a "new" situation on my bike (R65-1981) :
when the bike is in neutral, everything fine, normal RPM. but since i put the 1st gear.. RPM drops... to low (650) and half of the time the motor stops (except with a bit of gaz.. which is not practical...).
When i downshift... if i miss the neutral.... and stop in 1st Gear.. neutral is really difficult to find.. the bike also want to run and i have to maintain it... so well any ideas ? does it come from the carbs... and some kind of air flow or i do not know what, comes from the clutch... and what to do or come from the gear box... (and to be honest... the first is closed to be dead ;-) but works again.
Thanks for time
Guillaume

Hello,
Looks like your clutch is grabbing.
Why ? That's the question ...
Maybe the lever and cable play are not set up properly or the disk has gotten oil on it making it stick or the clutch spring is worn, or .... or ...
I for one would adjust the cable play and see what comes out of it.
Then will report back.

thanks for answer. i will try the cable !

I agree with Georges. Both the rev drop and the difficulty in finding neutral point to the clutch dragging.
-
any suggestions or adjustment ? i worked on the cable this afternoon no road test yet :-)

Regardless that it doesn't seem intuitive, do it exactly as described in the handbook: Use the knurled adjuster at the handlebar end of the clutch cable to set 201 mm of exposed inner cable at the gearbox end, then use the adjuster on the gearbox end clutch actuating lever to set 2 mm of free play at the handlebar lever.

Could you do something for me please? With the engine stopped, put the bike into 1st gear. Now pull in the clutch and hold it, now push the bike. Is it hard to push?

i will try that this weekend and report ! thanks for advises !
