I was able to score a sweet deal on an original working clock and voltmeter with the pods on ebay. I was looking at the parts microfiche and saw parts number 11 and 10. (Pic below)

Does anybody have an idea where those accessory instrument brackets mount on the bike?

They are affixed to the headlight support. Unscrew one upper screw on the upper triple clamp, put the "device", the screw back and you're done...

Would you have picture of those mounted like that? I have the pod but without parts 10 & 11 and I'm curious as to how that all looks and goes together.

The parts identified by you were to my very great surprise still available a couple of years ago.
The pods themselves are NLA and a member here gave me a broken one that I have used to make a mold. Sadly whilst I have some access to a plastic casting plant, my friend's business normally makes plastic storage jars and what our US friends call "soda" bottles. That kind of plastic is utterly unsuited to making instrument pods from without a substantial redesign (they would have to be much thicker and heavier than "stock").
It is my intention to use the molds we made to try casting some sample parts in industrial resin, a material that more closely matches the original in strength and hardness. But, to be honest my enthusiasm has waned significantly, in fact I suspect that overall the demand for the things would be very slight, otherwise someone would have put them back in production years ago.
When I thought I could simply insert my molds in my friends plant and run off a 100 or so pods from the plastic left at the end of a production run I was interested, but hand mixing small quantities of expensive epoxy, coating molds in release agent and then making them one by one has almost zero appeal.

I asked my local BMW shop,and the brackets are still indeed available; and I already ordered a pair. What got me thinking is that I've never seen an r65 with the optional instruments,even through the internet.
Tony, Siebenrock makes a replica of those gauge "pod" holders. Although pretty pricey at around 150 Euro each.

Thanks for posting the pics, the mounting makes a little more sense to me now.
As far as availability, I did see them at Motobins but I like to wait for bigger orders with them. I'll have to see if they're available more locally for a reasonable price.
Do you all know if the rubber expanding piece is available separately or is an off-the-shelf item? One of my ebay finds is missing that. I was going to go to Ace Hardware and check but wasn't sure if it was a standard size/fit.

The rubber is firmly NLA, In th epast for a very similar mount I went to a medical supply house and bought a test tube stopper. At home I put the stopper into the freezer and then drilled it while it was hard, after drilling i put it back in the freezer for a while before mounting it on my drill and using a fairly coarse rasp to "adjust" the taper. I could have saved a few cents by simply starting with a block of rubber from the local foam and rubber shop.

Thanks to Tony. I was going to look for a well nut or similar and see if I could make one of those work. If not I planned to try your method, either with a rubber stopper or a piece of plastic rod. I guess the rubber might be better in keeping it from flopping around.
At least I know the rubber part is NLA. Shouldn't be too difficult to improvise. I wasn't sure if I had the correct thing since I didn't see a part # or a picture of just that piece in the fiche.

Go in a shop selling industrial parts to farmers, heavy duty engine mechanics and ask them. Those pots are very widespread in filtering vibrations in Diesel powered machinery. I bet they will have something that fits well.

Thanks George. I have a couple of bolt/fastener supply places near work that I was going to check with. But you've reminded me now of a farm supply place not far from me that has a great hardware section.
There's always McMasterCarr and Grainger as a last resort.

Thanks again, George - just found several listings for Vibration Damping (Sandwich) Mounts.
Now that I have a proper name, should be easy to find something that'll work.
