Title: Tachometer Blip And Ignition Switch
Post by: BPT on November 14, 2017, 01:46:56 PM
A few months back I replaced my original coil (with a Dyna) and also the ignition module (from EME).  Since then, I get a blip with the tach needle when turning the key for the ignition.

It never did this before and now does it every time.  I can ignore it but thought I'd pick the great brains here and ask if there'd be a reason for this and if it is indeed ignorable.

             Thanks!

Mine does the same thing occasionally - i have stock BMW coil and no-name Polish Ignition Control Module. But it use to do it when I had a stock BMW ICU too.

i think you will find that there is also a spark firing as on occasion if the cylinders were full of unburnt charge I get a "woof" too.

I am ignoring both.

Ok, glad to know it's not unusual.  I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a sign of something that needed to be looked at.  As I said, it never happened before and now it's every time.  I thought I'd mostly taken care of my electrical weirdness and didn't want to have to chase any of that again.

     Thanks.
