g'day all
my bike has been running perfect the last 2 weeks, on the weekend i took fuel tank off and airfilter and left them off for 3 days. when i put everything back on im getting a really gluggy sound one low low revs, and will adle and cut out from not enough revs.
i think this is due to a possible air bubble in the fuel line?
when i rev it higher than 2500 it runs perfect, just will not maintain idle.
any suggestions (im a young moron with minimal mechanical knowlege)

Let's think of you as a Master Machanic that is just starting out.........
I would drop the float bowls with the fuel tap OFF. Make sure you have fuel in the bowls and both should have a similar amount. If one is low or no fuel.... trouble shoot that side.
Why did you have the tank off and the air filter off for three days on a good running bike? Did you wash anything, maybe soaked the air filter with water and won't pass enough air? Just a thought. .............Did you wash anything?

Could certainly have. Most times would manifest itself as a leaky carb. When ever you touch something and it isn't as before , look for the human element {{{first}}}

Where I work we call that the "Follow-the-tech" game. They don't appreciate our name for it! Haha.
I was thinking that if there was some sediment in the tank it could have sloshed around a bit and gotten to where it might be blocking something somewhere. Maybe I've just got cardiology on the brain??

i agree that it could be something stirred up,
i have cleaned the small fuel filter, but might drain the tank and possibly clean the carbies?

If you isolate the issue to one of the carbs. I would take a can of carb cleaner and blow out the passages, no big time disassembly. You want to find the issue. Those carbs were just fine three days ago and there is a 99% chance they are fine now. You do not want to do too much "fix'n" until you isolate the problem.
Soooo easy to cause more problems by wholesale fiddling with everything. You've got a good benchmark, three days ago everything worked fine" took the tank off and air cleaner and now it's dodo.
and............... what was the reason the tank and air filter were off the bike???

hi,
i took the carbies out today and cleaned them, i noticed my float assemblies were extremely yellow and i pressume heavy.
could this be a source?

They certainly do get yellow with age but weighing them is the only way to know.
New floats weigh 12.5 grams
They sink at 16 - 17 grams
15 Grams or less you can still use if allowances are made for setting the level. You can't set a 15 gram float parallel and expect it to achieve the correct fuel level. Set them below parallel by a a few mm. Same goes for using the fuel level in a removed bowl method. For heavy floats deduct 1mm from the target level for each gram they are overweight.
