I have been having problems with an oil leak from the brake cam
Of course it likes to leak when I am on a long trip
and get all over the side of the tire
So I am going try these
Mcmaster Carr Part #1200N185
I just install them today and I think they are going to work much better than the standard O ring that is specified in the Parts book
The feel like they have better tension in the housing and should seal better
I will update if I have any problems
I have the type of housing that does not have the tube that the cam runs thru

Good luck.
I had the problem last year after re-assembling the bike without replacing the o-rings and was really scared by the amount of oil that had distributed itself around my rear tyre. Damn dangerous.
I pulled the shaft (because I didn't have anything to remove the o-rings without damaging them and it was about 30 minutes before the shop closed on a Saturday), went to a really great local auto-supplies store where they matched them, charged me about $1 and no problems since.

Really interesting looking O-ring.

I've gotten into the habit of replacing these O-rings every time I have a rear tire replaced .
Only takes 10 minutes or so to replace them .
-
So you used an O ring of larger section and in the new vs old pic, new is on the left and old on the right with two O rings stacked on top of each other. Is that correct ?

Here's page from the suppliers catalog .

No (I am pretty sure).
The old is on the left. The new, which has a non-round cross-section (X-ring?), is on the right.
-
I never saw an X profile O ring before. The stuff you guys can buy at the local hardware store.
-
Rob is correct
original Oring is on the left the quad ring is on right

I had just replaced them less than 3000 miles ago :'(
If the wheel is off it isnt much to change them

Do you use those quads in your work, Mrclubike?

Not very often usually they are just the round cross section type
