Anyone got any experience of using Exude batteries? They seem very economical, but do they perform?
Thanks.
-
I meant EXIDE!
-
Exide is a well known brand I have not heard of any issues with their batteries .
Are you considering an AGM type, or flooded type ??
-
Hi Bob.
Probably an AGM. Saw on eBay I can pick one up for under 50 quid, so reasonable value it seems.
I have an Oddessy on my K75, but I was thinking of trying out another make, so I'll give it a shot, why not!
Thanks for the shout.

BMW used Exide batteries for a while, at least. Suraklyn's R1200ST came with an Exide battery and it didn't last any longer than a battery half the price. His only problem is that the battery compartment in the 1200ST will only fit the OEM battery - we haven't been able to find anything else that fits...
-
I wonder if they manufacture their batteries in China, Mexico, etc. now ..
-
The Exide batteries I've had basically lasted ~3 years, so basically average longevity. I certainly wouldn't put them in the same class as the Odyssey batteries, but with proper care they *should* give you 2 good eyars of service at least.

In London the Exide should last more like 5 years if kept fully charged but so would a cheap generic AGM. I'm coming up to 4 years on one of these:

Edit:
Or for another £2 and better still one of these:

When my battery failed after just a couple of months the shop I bought my bike from generously offered to give me a new one and it was a BMW Exide. I continued to have charging problems and the battery didn't last. However, I can't say if it was the battery or my system that may have messed it up.
It did fit into the stock battery box but was kind of a bitch to get in and out of the frame. I had to turn the battery, hold my tongue just right, and curse a bit to make it work.
Here's a pic. It says Deutsche Exide but I can't see anywhere on it that says Made In _____
