Title: Spraying Plastics
Post by: Adrian on November 10, 2016, 12:22:54 AM
Hi again - I am about to respray the front mudguard - does anyone have any experience/advice about what type of paint to use? What kind of undercoat particularly. I have researched today and I have found two pieces of advice. One suggests standard grey primer that would be used on metal surfaces and another recommends Etching primer - which I'm already using on the seat tray and have used on all the metal parts I have resprayed so far - like crash bars and things.
.
So any help would be great thanks ...... Adrian :-)

I have repainted several and I used Dupont Chroma system base-coat/clear-coat paint and so far all is perfect.  I think I used the two part Dupont Uro Prime but not sure it's still available.

AFAIK you don't need an etch primer on plastic - what is there for it to etch?  Etch primer has a bit of acid in it to help bite into a bare metal surface.
