Hi,
I'm wanting to replace the little beep beep horn on my bike. I have read some previous threads and have the concept of running a new circuit direct from the battery with a fuse and relay. Here are my questions. I'm looking at Sager horns from EME Euro Motor Electric. They have two styles, disc and trumpet. It appears the decibels are the same on both styles 105-118 and I will get a high low combo. The trumpets are 6 amp and the discs 3.5.
It seems less draw is good if they are equally loud? I think I'm more attracted to the discs as they are stealth and closer to what I believe would have been factory on the bike. Any reason I should go with trumpets?
Thanks as always for all the wisdom and guidance. It's been really fun to see and feel my bike come back together and this forum has been of tremendous value to me as I get to know my bike.

Well, you have to make the decision on which style to go with .
The wiring you need to do this is quite simple, a 12vdc relay from Radio Shack, or an auto parts store .
You can use the wires from the OEM horn, to operate the relay, then as you said, run wires from the battery to the new horns with a fuse .

3.5 amps doesn't like a relay is absolutely necessary. Maybe you could try it without in the first instance and measure the voltage drop between the battery and the horn.

I bought a pair of Freeway Blasters from the FLAPS for one of my R65s. Hi-Lo tones and very loud, they are. Made a bracket and mounted them in the "stock" location.
As previously mentioned, the OEM horn button wiring can be used to trigger the relay and send battery volts direct to the horns. Liked them so much I tossed the cheezy twin Nippon disc horns off the Triumph and installed the same horns on the Trophy.
Which ever route you go, DO use a relay.

Relays are a good idea to protect your aging switches even if they are capable of carrying the load
The Segers are 3.5 amps each x 2 is 7 amps total
I have a pair of Fiamm Highway Blasters also.
I was able to mount both of them from the same bolt the stock horn was on.
They are powered by a relay of course

Seger high low horns are in and rocking. It feels a lot better to know someone will now have a better chance of hearing my horn.

Here ya go!
I still have to replace the ground from the previous owner but for now it works. More exciting to hear than see, it's a huge improvement and I feel much better about being heard.
