Title: 2 Pin Flasher replacing a 3 Pin
Post by: jonathanrowley on April 25, 2016, 11:08:09 AM
I've bought a cheap 2 pin flasher unit rated to drive two Bulbs at 28W. I have no Dash repeater.

Can it be fitted in place of the standard 3 pin one which flashes too fast?
It has a B (Battery) and L (Load) Pin only...

Or do I have to find a 3 Pin - searched the WWW but can't quite find the answer...

My '81 R65 has a small cafe-ish fairing with streamlined LED turn signals. OEM rear turn sigs. Of course, the lights flasher too fast with the OEM turn signal relay.

A quick trip to the nearest auto parts store got me a five-dollar turn signal 3-pin relay designed for use with these fancy new cars with LED signals out the wazoo. Plug n' play.

Don't feel too bad about having to buy a 3-pin relay.

I bought 2 of the exact 2-pin type in your photo from a Chinese supplier (I bought 2 because they were so cheap and I thought to have a spare for the KLE and Yamaha, both of which use the 2-pin variety. I also liked the idea of the adjustable flash speed as I am currently converting every bulb I can on the KLE to LED.

Well the first one lasted a day and the second a day short of two weeks. An (at least) 30 year old spare flasher that I found in my "hope chest" is now doing duty on the KLE, it flashes a bit fast, but I'll live with it.

No worries... do you think this 3 pin version would work?
