Some engine covers have been nicely bead blasted and came back looking new. Cleaning up the engine cases at home on the weekend getting ready for some paint in places. I put the front cover on to dream about what the finished project will look like.
When I did, I found the gap you can see in the photo.
The recess in the bottom of the cover mates beautifully with the post its meant to mate with, screws line up and go in OK, contours match all round, until you get down the bottom where there's this gap. Do I have a misfit part or is this normal?
Thanks

Relax, Pete. You're good. Both my R65s are the same as yours.
I'm not going to yank the front cover for a photo, but if memory serves, there's a 'web' that captures the area where all the important bits live. With the multiple open to atmosphere vents on each side of the cover, rain, splashed water or spilled beer has an exit.
Rather tractor-like, yes?

Thanks Montmil. It's just not often that you get to stick your head down there and see it from the angle of my photo and I was a bit startled when I saw it.
Mmmm, have to agree, a bit tractor-like alright.
Cheers
