Title: Old rocker cover style vs. new
Post by: Soeren on December 03, 2015, 09:30:30 AM
I like the old rounded style rocker cover a lot more than the new one, and found an add claiming they fit on the newer barels.

Are they interchangeable?

Are there any disadvantages to use the old ones over the new ones?

Quite a few Airhead owners prefer the old school "peanut" valve covers rather than the square-ish 'boxer' covers. You should have no issues swapping in the vintage-look.

I have had them on my R65LS for a number of years, through my cafe phase and now as a sidecar tug. I had mine powder coated satin black and polished the ribs on them. I just like the way they look more than the newer style. People call the older style peanuts or kidney beans. I think the new ones look like a box of tissues for blowing your nose. Just my opinion.

The only problem with them is people value them more than I think they are worth. New ones are expensive and used ones usually have a few broken fins or grind spots from dragging a head through a corner.
