I rewired the headlight circuits on my Guzzi last week .
I can now have the low and high beam on at the same time, I was thinking for day time use only .
Anyone ever done this ??
I was wondering, if the headlight glass may get too hot .
The head light fits into an LS type fairing, with no airflow around it, it fits tight into the fairing, but is open on the back side, with no covers like an LS has .
I'm using a halogen bulb, I think it's a PIAA, 55/60w bulb .

I doubt the halogen bulb itself is designed to run with both filaments. The halogen cycle that re-deposits tungsten back on the filament would surely be affected by the higher operating temperature. Whether for good or bad I don't know but it wouldn't be a surprise if the bulbs life was shortened. My guess is that if the halogen cycle was disturbed the bulb would blacken as normal tungsten filament bulbs do when they are voltage over run.

You may melt the plug on the bulb or crack the lens.
If the bulb does not burn out.
They do make high temperature ceramic plugs.
I have been running a 55/100 Hella H4's (one filament at a time) in my Land Rover that has glass lenses for a long time with no problems but I did have to install Ceramic plugs and relays to carry the higher load.
