Can anyone tell me where the breather (?) hose (a clear plastic hose), which I am guessing routes oil vapor from the crankcase to the road, but could be a fuel tank vent I suppose (one end of which I find resting on top of the right cylinder barrel, and which from there runs back, passes through the hoses and cables of the right side carb and on back to drop down beneath the battery to run along the back part of the front frame, to point down to the road, forward of the rear tire) should be connecting? I don't see anything in the area that looks like it would accept this hose, so I'm thinking maybe something is missing.
Thanks,
Jim

May be the fuel tank's overflow drain.
If you'll remove the tank, you'll note a short, metal tube extending approx 0.375-inch. Poke a long pipe cleaner or piece of wire down the hole visible with the fuel cap off and it'll come out the tank's bottom tube.
The idea, and a good one, is to prevent excess fuel from draining onto a hot engine / exhaust pipe. And that's the primary reason that it's a good idea to dismount during pit stops no matter what kind on motorcycle you may be riding.
Check it out. Let us know. And route that tube away from hot spots. It shouldn't be laying on that cylinder. That was my clue as to your question.

Monmil, thanks very much. I will remove the tank and let you know results. I've been side-tracked with a head and barrel stud helicoil job... btw, not stripped by me!
