Sorry to ask because I read it somewhere (not sure which board) and now I CANT find it. I want to replace the dashboard bulbs with LED, except the charging one.... I have not taken the dashboard apart, I am traveling next week and wont be back until the end of May but I want to place my order before I take off. As I understand:
There are 4 small 1.2w bulbs in the instrument clusters:
High beam indicator
Oil pressure indicator
Neutral indicator
Brake fluid indicator (which my does not have it)
And 4 big 3W bulbs:
Battery charge indicator (which I wont change)
Turn indicator
Speedo illumination
Tacho illumination
What I cant remember is which one to order (type/base); I am clear to keep the LED color the same as the . Superbrightleds is my preferred source, this is as far as I got.. many thanks for your patience with this newbie

4 of those in my "basket" (Tacho, speedo, turn signals; do you happen to know which bulb for the:
High beam indicator
Oil pressure indicator
Neutral indicator

They all use the same bulb, only caution, is the GEN light, the GEN light is an important part of the charging system, if you use an LED for that position, you need to put a resistor in the circuit, or the charging system will not work properly .

All the same? Ref. the GEN light was the only one I was going to leave as is.
Now I am more confused... while researching I found this like which "claims" two different types

The picture you have, is for a different model BMW, a later model possibly .
The turn directional indicators on the instrument cluster, and all of the lights in the instrument cluster, whether for illumination of the indicator, or the status lights, ' idiot lights ', are all the same, 191, 168 and I think there is another number for that bulb .

Bob_Roller, sorry to be so dense... So the 194 168 is used for all:
Speedo, tacho, neutral, high beam, oil and turn signal indicators? All left to do is to match the light with the lenses?

Somewhere I think that I had a different Superbrightleds.com part/bulb replacement for the indicator lights, but I cannot find the darn things or the box anymore... I believe that they looked more like the ones in Bob's link because you don't need multi-directional illumination for the indicators - just for the general dial face illumination.. I'll keep looking but I am going away on a business trip for this week and won't get back to this thread for awhile.

Instrument lamps (turn signal. Oil, Neutral, High Beams, Speedo & Tacho): 07-11-9-978-278 (12v/2w) aka BA7S T2 Tube, aka 2698 aka 3898 aks 12829
