Hey!
Got an 82 r65 with an instrument pod from a later year.
The tach was working well until a week ago and now just jumps every now and then. :'(
Checked electrical connections and everything looks good.
Looks like the needle and shaft connection in the tach need some encouragement?
Before I take the pod off and start disassembly, are there any words of wisdom I need to hear? :-?
Also have an epoxy job on the odometer shaft main gear to do. Odometer and trip are not moving, but the first gear past the worm is turning fine. Tried CA and then poly glue and things worked fine for about ten miles. JB Weld or metal epoxy will be next to make this a permanent bond.
Thanks.

I don't know of anybody going into the tachometer on this board, I have heard of some problems with cracking of the pc board and solder joints inside the tachometer, but I don't know if it effected the R65 or not. If you take the tach apart, get some pictures and post a procedure in the FAQ Technical Section, for future reference. The signal for the tachometer comes out of the ignition control unit under the tank pin number 7.

I will post pictures of the tach and odometer fixes I try.
Then will post results along with, just so anyone trying any of this will be aware. 8-)
Wish me luck, I am going in this weekend. ;)
