I want to relocate and replace the fuse box. The current ceramic fuses are 8 Amp/ 12 Volt. I would like to replace the box with a spade type (mini fuse) box available at O'Reilly or Aerostich. The spade type fuses available close to the 8 Amp ceramic fuses are 7.5 Amp. fuses.
Will the 7.5 Amp fuse work ? I do not have any extra loads on the circuits. ( My bike is an 82' R65 ). Also I will replocate the fuse Box to make it more accessible..without having to remove the seat.

I think 7.5 amp fuses will work .
I'm working on a relocated fuse box for my '81 R65, going to move it to behind he left side cover .
Got one from O'Reilly's .
Make sure you don't get one that requires a relay to power it .
This is what I got, it has push on terminals on the bottom of the fuse box, there is also one that has the terminals on the side of the fuse box .

Yes, 7.5A fuses should be OK - these are generally slow-blo/time action ones in that range too so even very short, higher pulses shouldn't cause nuisance fuse actions based on I^2t factors.
Bob's fusebox looks like a good possibility. Just remember that where the fuses are originally, they are very well protected from rain/road water. Depending on where you relocate things, you may want to consider the "Water resistance" of the enclosure. Personally, I think that if I install a fuse box on my airheads (just have the inline single SAE blade fuse holders now, which are also very splash-proof) I might actually want to have one that has a relay switched output as well, so I could use it for running additional lights, heated suit, etc.

Beats me why they moved the location of the fuses from from where they were on the earlier model - behind the RH side cover.

Or you can keep to the KISS principle as did I.
Stop by your local NAPA store and pick up two of these waterproof, mini-blade fuse holders. Get a couple 7.5amp mini fuses while you're there.

Wire the fuse holders directly into the harness and call it done.

When I was making some changes to the wiring on my bike I followed Monte's lead and put the same type of fuse holder and fuses in place. Now when I have an electrical issue I only have 1000 possible culprits instead of 1001. ;D
